Emily in Paris is a web series about a modern woman’s journey of self-discovery in Paris, France. It is loosely based on the classic novel “Rebecca” and tells its own story with a modern twist. The series follows the main character, Emily, as she tries to escape the pain of a recent breakup by leaving her hometown in the US and heading to Paris to pursue a journalism career. There, she must navigate the challenges of learning a new language and culture, finding her place in the work world, and opening up to new relationships.
We are a team of passionate film-makers and writers who want to bring this story to life. The team behind Emily in Paris is based in Los Angeles, New York and Paris. The writer and creator of “Emily in Paris” is Rebecca Robyn-Harris. Rebecca has worked in the film industry for ten years. Her writing and producing credits include the feature film I Dream Too Much and the webseries The Rocco Code.
We have chosen 4 key locations in Paris that are important to our story. Each location is rich with history, culture and architectural beauty. Our main character, Emily, moves to Paris from the US and lives in a small apartment in the neighborhood of Quartier Latin. This is a vibrant area of Paris that is close to the Sorbonne University and the beautiful Luxembourg Gardens. Emily gets her first job at a magazine called Paris Now, which is based in the Latin Quarter. The Paris Now offices are located in a beautiful building on the corner of Boulevard Saint-Germain and Rue des Écoles.
In order to make this show a reality we need to raise $40,000. This money will be used for pre-production, most importantly securing our key locations in Paris. It will also cover the cost of hiring a professional crew and renting camera gear. We will launch an Indiegogo campaign to raise these funds in September 2018. If you want to get involved, now is the time! If you want to be one of the first people to know about our campaign, make sure you sign up to our mailing list. Besides contributing financially, there are a number of ways you can help out. First, you can share our campaign and help us spread the word. You can download our stickers and use them on your laptop, water bottle or wherever else you like to stick stickers. Finally, you can also sign up to be an extra in the show.
