Final Fantasy XIV producer and director Naoki Yoshida explained to IGN how The Great Hunt, the Rathalos trial within the Monster Hunter: Globe x Final Fantasy XIV On-line crossover, is diverse from other battles.
"During battle in Final Fantasy XIV, a tank generates and sustains enmity, taking the brunt of enemy attacks, though DPS members deal harm and healers hold the tanks and DPS alive: an extremely clear role-based program," Yoshida said inside a statement to IGN.
"However, in Monster Hunter: World - really the complete Monster Hunter series - you should spend continual interest for your opponent's attack pattern and how the target is moving. You let the enemy attack 1st to determine where it may be vulnerable. Sort of difficult to place into words, but it's a course of action of finding out by undertaking," he said.
Yoshida then went in to the value of finding the vulnerability of the opponent.
"During battle in FFXIV, you always engage your opponents head on," Yoshida said. "Yet, the notion of Monster Hunter revolves around the truth that mankind would be the overwhelmingly weaker species. When looking to defeat a formidable foe like a wyvern, you should utilize the opponent's attack for your benefit, and by that I imply produce a moment in which you may exploit a vulnerability. That's the only way you could go head-to-head with such an opponent."
"We attempted to recreate that in Final Fantasy XIV together with the Rathalos battle. You can't just charge in and start off beating on Rathalos as the tank to obtain enmity; this really is not that kind of fight," Yoshida explained. "Just like in Monster Hunter, you need to pay close consideration to Rathalos' movement, watch for the patterns as it unleashes every single attack, and then hit it when it is vulnerable. Which is the most basic aspect to succeeding within this fight."
Two versions in the trial are accessible: a regular version and an extreme version. In the typical version, the battle consists of a complete celebration of eight players, but that number gets reduce down in the intense version to a light party of 4.
"In the intense version on the fight, your party is reduce down from eight to only four," Yoshida stated. "This tends to make it a lot more significant for each party member to become reactive and swift in their actions; otherwise the group will endure a speedy defeat.
"I encourage those attempting The Great Hunt (Extreme) to not jump in blindly. Be thorough in observing how Rathalos moves ahead of it attacks. That's the important to obtaining FFXIV Gil its weak points!"
