Reasons Why Online Education is Better than Traditional Learning | Edzag

As we inch towards the modern world, we pick up a lot of modern techniques which makes our day to day life easier and more efficient. One of these techniques is digital learning. As the internet is becoming more widely available to people. A majority of them choose to prefer online education over the traditional way.

Online learning vs traditional learning

Online Learning

Online learning is generally taken up by those who don’t have time to attend classroom lectures. This includes people who have already joined the workforce. It provides them a suitable alternative to learn without leaving their homes. It is something where a learner only has to find a comfortable place where he can sit and attend classes using laptops, mobile phones, etc. It somewhat elevates the mind of the student to better understand and learn the concepts as it is very flexible and the students can customize their learning experience. The lessons are taught in small groups or to an individual at a time which allows the teacher to focus on every student individually. The lectures are usually recorded even if they are live sessions. Recordings are also made available to the students so that even if anyone misses out on a lecture they can easily go back to the recording and attend the lecture anytime.

E-learning also provides the students with a pool of online e-resources which has a wide selection of courses for the students to choose from so there's something for everyone. Students can make use of these resources from anywhere and anytime. The lecture also provides a discussion room and online forums which help students to clear their doubts instantly. Also, feedbacks are faster and more frequent on these modes.

Online education is made available to everyone at none to low cost so that the students don’t have to take up loans. Hence getting degrees at a low rate can boost their careers without making a major change in their personal and job environment.

The material provided by them is readily available or one can just download it to study whenever and wherever required without incurring extra cost. A recent study also shows that online lectures may be more engaging than traditional lectures as they might use innovative ways of grabbing the student's attention through various multimedia options.

Traditional Learning

Traditional learning has its perks as it has more of a personal approach since teachers and students interact in person and this helps the teacher to understand their students better and help them evaluate their weaknesses and strengths carefully. This is very important for younger students. It helps them to understand the concepts a little better and has a schedule, they have to follow regularly which builds up lots of important traits like time management, discipline, etc. Though traditional learning has its cons as well since it is very time consuming and is not beneficial for people already working or those who don’t have enough time to spare to attend lectures regularly. This leads to students missing out on lectures. And, there will be no way to gain the knowledge they have lost, as mentioned previously that traditional learning is a regular and stiff process as compared to online learning.

It also comes to be very costly as commuting from one place to another is an economic expense and valuable time is lost. Some people who are not financially sound end up taking loans for the courses they are attending which might become an unpayable debt in the future.

The material used by traditional learning is not accessible 24/7 which becomes a hindrance in the time of need and sometimes one has to pay an additional amount just to get notes of the class. Traditional learning usually has a group of a large number of students learning at the same time at the same place so one student at a time approach is lost.

Summary: -

In a nutshell, we can conclude that online learning has a bigger scope as compared to traditional learning as online education continue to increase its popularity through flexibility and low cost. Moreover, online learning is for all age groups and one can gain any skill or knowledge without any age restrictions. With E-learning, one can always get a fresh start which can’t be done in traditional learning.
